The Independent Authority for Fiscal Responsibility (AIReF) has launched “AIReF Divulga” today, a new section on its website designed to make economics more understandable and accessible to all audiences. This initiative is part of the 2020-2026 Strategic Plan of AIReF’s President, Cristina Herrero, which includes, among its priorities, reaching out to the non-specialised public to reinforce transparency – one of the guiding principles of the institution, along with independence and accountability.
AIReF Divulga is not just a new information section, but a living space that will be updated and expanded to consolidate itself as a stable dissemination channel as part of AIReF. Its content is structured around four complementary pillars: publications, a dictionary, a space specially designed for students and an interactive section where users can test their level of knowledge.
The posts section is the core of the project. AIReF Divulga already has four posts explaining to users what AIReF is and why it has created this new space; what public finance sustainability is, what the fiscal framework is and how to approach the public policy evaluation in Spain. New content will be uploaded every week with the aim of explaining, in a simple and attractive way, key concepts related to the economy, public finances and the work carried out by AIReF. These texts are designed for anyone interested in better understanding the economic reality and are accompanied by visual elements designed to facilitate their comprehension.
In parallel, an economic dictionary has been developed to set out and define the main terms that appear in the posts. The aim of this tool is to provide clarity, dispelling the technical jargon that often hinders access to economic information.
AIReF Divulga also dedicates a specific section to students, a key audience for promoting economic knowledge from an early age. This section includes updated information on the training scholarships offered by AIReF and other initiatives aimed at young people, such as collaborations with universities, informative sessions and visits to the institution.
Finally, an economics quiz has been added, an interactive and fun tool to test users’ knowledge. This quiz will be updated periodically with questions related to the content published in the posts, in order to consolidate learning in an entertaining way.
In addition to the content, AIReF Divulga is launching its own visual identity, which seeks to differentiate this space within the institution’s digital ecosystem and make it recognisable at a glance. The new logo, which combines institutional typography with a friendlier, more modern style, is accompanied by a colour palette in shades of blue, designed to convey clarity, trust and proximity. This image reinforces the informative nature of the initiative without losing the rigour that characterises AIReF.
The launch of AIReF Divulga is part of the fourth pillar of the 2020-2026 Strategic Plan, which seeks to strengthen the principles of independence, transparency and accountability. In particular, the transparency strategy includes measures aimed at improving public access to AIReF’s activities, adapting the language and formats to new audiences, with a special focus on young people. This commitment involves not only presenting data, but also explaining and contextualising them so as to make sense to the whole of society. In addition, AIReF is complying with one of the recommendations of the specific analysis on communication carried out as part of the external evaluation it underwent in 2024.
By means of this initiative, AIReF reaffirms its desire to be a useful, independent and accessible institution that offers rigorous and accessible analysis, contributing to a better informed and more participatory society.
