Through its supervision and evaluation functions, AIReF ensures the fulfillment of its main mission: to watch over the sustainability of public finances as a way to ensure economic growth and the well-being of Spanish society in the medium and long term. In addition to reports and studies, AIReF carries out analyses of the main challenges facing public finances in the future.
In March 2023 it published its first Opinion on the long-term sustainability of Public Administrations, which focuses on the analysis of the impact of demographics on public accounts based on a macroeconomic and fiscal scenario prepared with a time horizon up to 2050 and 2070.
Previous pronouncements
Previously, in 2018, AIReF published its first demographic forecasts. And in 2019 it published an Opinion on Sustainability focused on Social Security, in which it analyzed in depth the short- and long-term problems of its financial situation. In 2020 it updated its demographic and pension expenditure forecasts.
Tools
AIReF has also developed various tools to facilitate the analysis of the main challenges facing public finances, both in the short term and in the medium and long term.
