The Independent Authority for Fiscal Responsibility (AIReF) publishes the document ‘Demographic Forecasts: an integrated view’, as part of the fulfillment of the objective of ensuring effective compliance by the Public Administrations with the principle of budgetary stability provided for in Article 135 of the Spanish Constitution, through the continuous assessment of the budget cycle, public indebtedness, and the analysis of economic forecasts.
As stated in AIReF’s Strategic Plan 2015-2020, one of AIReF’s main objectives is to promote the financial sustainability of the Public Administrations by analyzing the long-term trends and dynamics of the main expenditure components: pensions, healthcare, education and social services, among others.
