Under the current national fiscal framework, the Region of Murcia must submit an economic and financial plan (PEF) due to noncompliance with the spending rule in 2024; this plan must be reviewed by the Independent Authority for Fiscal Responsibility (AIReF) prior to its approval by the Fiscal and Financial Policy Council of the Autonomous Communities (CPFF). At the same time, the AIReF must prepare, by July 15 of each year, a report on budget execution, public debt, and compliance with the spending rule for the current fiscal year. The AIReF issues both reports jointly, given that their purpose and underlying information overlap.
The reports analyze the scenario outlined by the autonomous community in its draft PEF, aimed at compliance with the fiscal rules in effect in 2025 and 2026.
