“Our mission is to guarantee effective compliance of the financial sustainability principle by the General Goverment”

The Network of Independent Fiscal Institutions of the EU signs a new collaboration agreement with the Centre for European Policy Studies

The Network of Independent Fiscal Institutions of the European Union (EU), which AIReF is a member of, has renewed its partnership agreement with the Centre for European Policy Studies (CEPS) to exchange knowledge, research and activities in the field of public finance and fiscal supervision.

The agreement came into force on 1 January 2022 and will be reviewed for its potential renewal every two years. The project will be financed in equal parts by CEPS and the Network of Independent Fiscal Institutions.

The representatives of the Network and of CEPS will remain in close contact while the agreement is in force and will meet whenever necessary to ensure its suitable coordination and development.

On the part of the Network, the supervision and control of the implementation of the agreement will be carried out by the Independent Fiscal Institution (IFI) that holds the Presidency thereof, currently the Netherlands Bureau for Economic Policy Analysis (CPB), through its Director, Pieter Hasekamp, in coordination with the Vice-President, currently Sebastian Barnes, President of the Irish Fiscal Advisory Council (IFAC). On the part of CEPS, the monitoring, supervision and control of the implementation of the agreement will be carried out by Willem Pieter de Groen, a Research Fellow and Head of the Financial Markets and Institutions Unit of CEPS.

The Network of European IFIs is a voluntary and inclusive institution open to all institutions that operate in the European Union, which was set up following the signing of the Bratislava Agreement in September 2015. The CEPS is an independent Think Tank and forum for debate on European Union affairs of recognised prestige.

This agreement represents the novation of the document of similar characteristics that was in force from 2019 to 2021. All the signatory parties of the previous partnership agreement, plus the Federal Planning Bureau of Belgium (FPB), which signed up to the Network of IFIs, have ratified the agreement.
