The Independent Authority for Fiscal Responsibility (AIReF) endorses the forecasts accompanying Region of Murcia’s draft budget for 2024, which presents estimates for growth in gross domestic product (GDP), in volume and current terms, the GDP deflator and employment for the period 2023-2024, which differ from the latest estimates of the macroeconomic scenario for the country as a whole.
This community estimates GDP growth in volume terms of 1.8% in 2024. This forecast is within the central range of AIReF’s estimates (central forecast of 1.3%), but is at the lower end of the range of forecasts made by other agencies for the region -although some do not yet reflect recent revisions to the national accounts-. Region of Murcia’s expected nominal growth for 2024 (5.2%) is also higher than AIReF’s forecast (4.5%).
