The Independent Authority for Fiscal Responsibility (AIReF) endorses the forecasts accompanying the 2024 draft budgets of Catalonia, which present estimates of GDP growth in volume and current terms, of its demand-side and employment components for the period 2023-2024, different from the latest estimates of the macroeconomic scenario for the country as a whole.
This community estimates GDP growth in volume terms of 1.8% in 2024. This forecast coincides with AIReF’s central estimate and is at the lower end of the range of forecasts made by other agencies for the region, although it should be borne in mind that the forecasts of some agencies do not yet include recent revisions to the national accounts. The nominal growth expected by Catalonia (5.2%) is practically in line with AIReF’s forecast (5%).
