The President of the Independent Authority for Fiscal Responsibility (AIReF), Cristina Herrero, today participated in the closing ceremony and award of diplomas for the fourth edition of the Master’s Degree in Account Auditing and the tenth edition of the Master’s Degree in Accounting and Finance at Miguel Hernández University in Elche.
During her speech, Cristina Herrero explained what AIReF is and the functions it performs to students: to ensure the sustainability of public finances through fiscal supervision and the evaluation of public policies.
She stressed that AIReF is convinced of the need to attract talent to the public sector, which is why it has a scholarship programme that is proving very successful for both the students and the institution. In this regard, she recalled that the latest call for applications is still open and encouraged both the university and students to consult the terms and conditions on the AIReF website.
The President explained AIReF’s work in slightly more detail, which is closely linked to the need to plan budgetary action based on the study of data for future decision-making with the aim of improving the performance of public policies.
In fact, she stressed that for public servants it is essential to manage public revenue well. “This is an obligation and a shared responsibility because several institutions have functions in this area, but from very different perspectives”, she said.
