The Independent Authority for Fiscal Responsibility (AIReF) today hosted the meeting of the Steering Committee of the Technical Support Instrument (TSI) of the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Structural Reform Support (DG REFORM), which provides technical support to Member States (MS) in carrying out institutional, structural and administrative reforms that promote economic growth, job creation and sustainable investment.
AIReF participates in three of the four projects launched by the TSI last year: the external evaluation carried out within the framework of the project to strengthen the capacity of Independent Fiscal Institutions, improving the visibility and impact of the institution, and improving economic forecasts and climate change. The first two projects were completed in 2024 and the third will continue in 2025.
This instrument acts on certain priority areas related to cohesion, competitiveness, education, productivity, research and innovation, smart, equitable, sustainable and inclusive growth, employment and investment, with a particular focus on measures that promote the digital transition and the just green transition.
Member States submit projects to the Programme through their National Coordination Authority (in Spain, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Enterprise) and the Commission selects the projects based on criteria of transparency, non-discrimination, financial viability, maturity of the proposal and order of priority.
