“Our mission is to guarantee effective compliance of the financial sustainability principle by the General Goverment”

AIReF completes the publication of the reports on 2026 budgetary execution and the Economic-Financial Plans of the Autonomous Regions

The Independent Authority for Fiscal Responsibility (AIReF) today published the reports on budgetary execution, public debt and the expenditure rule for the Canary Islands, Castilla y León, the Principality of Asturias and Aragón, completing the publication of the individual reports on the Autonomous Regions for 2026.

The reports analyse each region’s budgetary and financial performance and include AIReF’s forecasts for the balance, debt and the expenditure rule.

They also include the assessment of the Economic-Financial Plans (EFPs) submitted by the regions that breached the expenditure rule in 2025. AIReF analyses the content of these plans, assesses whether the planned measures are sufficient to correct the deviations observed and bring public finances back into compliance with the fiscal rules in the coming years, and makes the relevant recommendations.

With this publication, AIReF completes the release of the individual reports for all the Autonomous Regions, which began on 15 July with eight reports and continued on 24 July with a further five.

The reports are available in the publications section of the AIReF website.
