Report on the macroeconomic forecasts of Canary Island for 2026

The Independent Authority for Fiscal Responsibility (AIReF) endorses the forecasts accompanying the 2026 draft budget of the autonomous community of the Canary Islands, which presents estimates of GDP growth in volume and current terms, the implicit GDP deflator, and employment in terms of persons employed for the period 2025-2028, which differ from the latest forecasts in the Spanish government’s macroeconomic scenario for the country as a whole.

For 2026, the Canary Islands estimates GDP growth in volume terms of 1.9%. This forecast is lower than that of the AIReF (central forecast of 2.3%) and is slightly below the average forecast of other agencies for the region (2.4%), although the forecasts of some agencies do not yet reflect the regional accounting revisions.
